Beginners Improv Comedy Course! This 6 week course will introduce you to the joys of improvised comedy! Developing new skills, enhancing creativity, self- confidence and wellbeing. Improvised comedy is the art of making up comedic scenes on the fly. All scenes, dialogue and characters are made up spontaneously without a script. (It's not as hard as you might think!) The principles and structures that underpin improvisation are learnable by all. It is more than a skill-set used by performers and actors. Improv skills such as a positive mindset, active listening and team work are hugely transferable to every day life: Improv can: Build self-confidence personally, socially and professionally. Unleash your self-expression, imagination and creativity. Boost your mental health and wellbeing. Develop spontaneity & flexibility Enhance work presentations & public speaking skills. Help to make new friends. Don't worry - improv comedy is not stand-up comedy. You are not on your own ‘making jokes’. In fact, you don’t even have to consider yourself to be 'a funny person' to do improv. Don't aim to 'be funny', aim for authenticity! Improv is about working together as a team and humour flows naturally as a by-product of being playful in a trusting and creative environment. What happens in the 6 week course? • Through playing improv games and scenes each session teaches you to • Listen and accept ideas • Co-create scenes together • Build confidence • Appreciate creativity • Commit to self and each other • Boost social connection and wellbeing Testimonial: "Doing the beginners course and drop-in sessions has been amazing. I didn’t expect that it would have enriched so much of my life, and in so many different ways, but it has. I couldn’t have anticipated that it would bring so much more motivation and gratification too. This sort of thing usually scares the shit out of me but I always feel safe and supported, and it’s a great gift to have that and to be able to achieve things in an environment that I would otherwise shy away from. Thank you so much for everything, and I look forward to learning more and playing more".
