Acting for Improvisers (Part 2)
Unpacking Scriptwork to Elevate Improv Scenes
You’re already a confident improviser — but you may not have studied what’s on the page.
If you’re curious about what scripted work can offer your improv, this is a great place to start. We’ll take a peek into actor techniques developed by Stanislavsky and Meisner and break scripts down, bringing insights into your improvised scenes.
This workshop is designed for experienced improvisers ready to deepen their work by exploring the mechanics behind great scripted scenes and applying the tools that underpin compelling scenes.
Through focused script analysis and practical exercises, we’ll break down how scripts function — from precision (and concision!) in language and intentional beats to subtext and emotional pivots that land. You’ll then translate these insights directly into your improvising, building scenes that feel more satisfying.
This workshop reveals the tools behind great writing and shows you how to use them in spontaneous work.
This Masterclass is led by theatre director and improviser Emma Bird.
Scenes may be comedic or lean more towards dramatic.
