About this workshop
Have you lost your character and your character’s point of view in a scene? Do you defer to your scene partner asking a lot of questions that stagnate the scene? Do you talk too much and not use your body to inform your character? Do you struggle with playing a talking head and standing at the “Improv 11” (front center with your scene partner)? Come prepared to work on these tools using the Power of You and what you can bring to the scene. Valuable communication, creative and relationship building skills are packed into this fun and interactive workshop.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have additional tools for your toolbox including:
Finding your unique voice using verbal, physical and emotional choices
New ways of using the entire stage for more dynamic scenes
How to make supportive, creative choices that bring out the Power of You that will delight and engage your scene partner
For musical improvisers, using the stage for greater impact with your musical numbers

Meet your teacher
Betse Green
Betse Green has been a leading figure in the Portland (USA) improv community since 2002. She performs and teaches with Curious Comedy Theater, ComedySportz Portland, and internationally acclaimed indie teams B&B, B.A.B.E., and The Witches of…. Her work has taken her to festivals and theatres across North America and Europe, where she has also directed festival ensembles, including at the San Francisco Improv Festival.
Trained through ComedySportz, iO Chicago and renowned instructors including Susan Messing and Joe Bill, Betse is a Certified Applied Improvisation Architect who creates educational and corporate programs. Her teaching emphasizes authentic characters, relationships, inclusion and fun.
